TUSCALOOSA, Ala. - Alabama head softball coach Patrick Murphy announced the signing of Peyton Grantham (Daphne, Ala.). The slugging high school infielder is considered one of the top hitters in the state.
“Peyton’s biggest attribute right now is her raw power with the bat,” Murphy said. “She has a chance to be one of the best power hitters we have had at Alabama. Next is her athleticism in the infield. Her ability to play multiple positions was a key factor in her recruitment.”
Grantham heads to Alabama after being nominated for the Gatorade Player of the Year and being named a Max Prep All-American. She was also named the AHSAA North/South All-Star Game MVP in 2012, as well as being named to the All-State Softball Team the past two seasons.
Grantham was also named the 6A Hitter of the Year in 2011, something she lists as her biggest accomplishments in high school.
“We were really glad to sign a young lady from the coast,” Murphy said. “It will mean great exposure to our team in that part of the state in future years.”
Off the softball field, Grantham is a member of the National Honor Society, Fellowship of Christian Athletes, and the Key Club.
