TUSCALOOSA, Ala. - Alabama softball head coach Patrick Murphy announced the Fall Brawl schedule for the 2011 exhibition season. The Crimson Tide will play a total of eight games on four dates with six of those contests being played at Rhoads Stadium.

"Fall ball gives us a chance to put a lot people in different situations to see what they can do,” Murphy said. “It's an opportunity for the freshmen to put on the jersey for the first time and perhaps get rid of some preseason jitters.”

The three home Fall Brawl events will provide the first chance for Alabama fans to see the 2011 signing class don the Crimson and White in Tuscaloosa.

“We have some great opponents this year which will help us out next spring,” Murphy added. “The chance to play the National Pro Fastpitch all-star team on October 9 is very exciting. We are hoping some Alabama alums are on the roster for the pro team."

The first date is slated for Saturday, Oct. 1, and will be played at Western Kentucky and will feature a doubleheader. Alabama will play Murray State to open Fall Brawl I at 11 a.m., before the Tide will play Western Kentucky at 1 p.m.

Fall Brawl II is set for Sunday, Oct. 2. The second event will kick off with the Wallace State-Hanceville Lions matching up against the Columbus State University Cougars at Noon. Alabama will then play CSU at 2 p.m., followed by a contest between UA and WHCC at 4 p.m.

The third event will take place on Sunday, Oct. 9. The day will start with the Crimson Tide facing Shelton State at noon, followed by Alabama taking on the National Pro Fastpitch Team at 2 p.m.

The fall slate will conclude the next week on Sunday, Oct. 16 when Alabama plays two more games at Fall Brawl IV. North Georgia will open the festivities against Tennessee State at 11:30 a.m., before Alabama will open its day up against North Georgia at 1:30 p.m. Alabama will then face Tennessee State at 3:30 p.m.

Admission will be $5 for the entire day at each event.
