According to Student Sports Magazine, the University of Alabama softball program has landed the No. 8 recruiting class in the country for the 2003 season.

“We’re honored that Student Sports Magazine considers this threesome one of the Top 10 classes in the country,” said Alabama Head Coach Patrick Murphy.

The Tide’s class of pitcher Stephanie VanBrakle (Pennsylvania), and infielders Dominique Accetturo (Florida) and Staci Ramsey (Texas) is one of the smallest recruiting classes in Alabama softball history.  However, Murphy is pleased with the signings.

“Although this is one of our smallest classes, these three players were our top three choices and we got all three of them to sign,” said Murphy.  “But you never know how a recruiting class will be until four years later when they’ve completed their senior season and we hope this class has lived up to their early billing.”

The Top 10 is as follows:

1. UCLA
2. Arizona
3. Oklahoma
4. Washington
5. Louisiana State
6. Stanford
7. Michigan
8. Alabama
9. Tennessee
10. Northwestern
