TUSCALOOSA, Ala. - The No. 1 seeded Alabama softball team (51-9) will welcome the No. 16 seeded Rainbow Wahine of Hawai'i (47-13) in the NCAA Tuscaloosa Super Regional. The two teams will meet on Friday and Saturday in Tuscaloosa. All games will be televised on the ESPN family of networks.
The official start time for Friday's opener has not been set due to television assignments but first pitch will either be at 5:30 or 6:30 p.m. on May 28. Saturday's contest will begin at 4:00 p.m. with the "if necessary" game slated for 6:30 p.m.
Alabama claimed its sixth straight regional title by downing Lipscomb 6-0 on Sunday. The win was the 27th in a row for the Crimson Tide which ties the longest win streak in program history. Junior Kelsi Dunne struck out an Alabama regional record 14 batters in the win.
Hawai'i, the Western Athletic Conference champions won the Stanford regional, by powering its way past Texas Tech 7-1 on Sunday. The Rainbow Wahine last advanced to a super regional in 2007, where they took Tennessee to three games.
