TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – The National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) released its 2014 All-Region teams and Alabama boasts five honorees in the South Region. Jaclyn Traina, Kaila Hunt and Haylie McCleney were named First Team All-Region, while Molly Fichtner was named to the Second Team and Jadyn Spencer was named to the Third Team.

Alabama’s three First-Team members are the most for any school in the South Region. This is Traina’s fourth-straight appearance, as she has earned First Team honors every season during her career at the Capstone. This is Hunt’s third-straight appearance on the list and McCleney’s second. Traina and McCleney both earned First Team All-SEC honors this season and are Top 10 finalists for the USA Softball Player of the Year award, while Traina also earned her second career SEC Pitcher of the Year award. Hunt was named Second Team All-SEC and is three home runs away from tying Kelly Kretschman’s (1998-2001) career school record of 60.

Fichtner is making her first All-Region appearance, earning a spot on the South Region’s Second Team after hitting .344 this season with 44 hits, including 11 doubles and 33 RBI. She earned Second Team All-SEC honors after hitting .391 on conference play and throwing out an SEC-leading seven would-be base stealers from behind the dish.

Spencer is also making her first appearance on the All-Region list, sliding in to the South Region’s Third Team. The Waterloo, Iowa junior has been a solid run-producer in the heart of the Alabama lineup this season, driving in a team-leading 41 RBI with 10 home runs, half of which came in conference play. Spencer was also Alabama’s selection to the 2014 SEC Community Service Team.
