TUSCALOOSA, Ala. -
The Texas Longhorns came up with the only run of the game in the bottom of the ninth inning to close out game one of the NCAA Softball Tuscaloosa Regional.
"It was a grind," Texas head coach Connie Clark said. "When you get in the NCAAs everybody is going to bring their 'A' game and it was definitely a grind today. We've talked about you've got to keep jabbing, keep fighting and I think we did that today and transitioned well from offense to defense because we were struggling early offensively. I don't think it effected [Brittany] Barnhill today in the circle or our defense. So we transitioned well, hung around and kept fighting."
Texas had seven hits through the game while Chattanooga came up with two. Texas' Brittany Barnhill came up with the win, going to 25-13 on the season while the Lady Mocs' Brooke Loudermilk took the loss, falling to 8-2 on the year. Barnhill also posted the game-winning RBI, pushing Nadia Taylor across the plate with a single to left field.
Texas returns to action Saturday at 1:30 p.m. against the winner of tonight's Alabama-Mississippi Valley State game. Chattanooga faces the loser of tonight's contest in an elimination game at 4:00 p.m.
