TUSCALOOSA, Ala. - Alabama senior Charlotte Morgan (Moreno Valley, Calif.) was named to the ESPN.com NCAA Early Season All-American team the website announced. Morgan was named to the first-team and joins 23 other players on the two squads.

Morgan enters her senior season as one of the most decorated players in Alabama history. Earlier this season the utility player broke the Alabama career RBI record when she tallied her 192nd RBI against South Alabama on Feb. 16.

The senior became the first Alabama softball player to be named the Southeastern Conference Player of the Year. Morgan has earned NFCA First-Team All-American accolades the last two seasons and is on the USA Softball Player of the Year Watch List. She has also earned ESPN the Magazine/CoSIDA Academic All-American honors the last two seasons and is a candidate for the Lowe's Senior CLASS Award.

In 2009, Morgan led the Crimson Tide in seven offensive categories, including batting average (.406), home runs (11) and RBI (59). She also paced the team with a .673 slugging percentage and a .505 on base percentage. She led the country with eight sacrifice flies.

In the circle she also was just as dominant. Morgan was 18-6 with a 1.80 ERA and 124 strikeouts to just 24 walks. She tossed her first career no-hitter at Georgia Tech on April 22, 2009.

Morgan and the rest of the Crimson Tide return home this weekend to host the Easton Challenge. Alabama will welcome Michigan, DePaul and South Carolina to the Softball Complex. The Tide opens play against the Wolverines on Friday, March 5 at 6:00 p.m.
