TUSCALOOSA, AL-The No. 13 ranked (ESPN.com/USA Softball) Crimson Tide softball team lost its fourth straight game as they dropped the consolation game to the Penn State Nittany Lions, 2-1.

Stephanie VanBrakle paced the Alabama offense going 2-2 on the day with an RBI.  Her single in the first inning that scored Ashley Courtney gave Alabama a 1-0 lead, but that would be the only offense the Crimson Tide could put together.

Penn State tied the game in the bottom of the first and went ahead in the bottom of the fourth inning for good.

VanBrakle finished the tournament with a .429 average (6-14) including three doubles and a triple.  Her efforts landed her on the all-tournament team along with Penn State's Destiny Chavez and Marisa Hanson.

The Crimson Tide will be in action Tuesday night when the team travels to Jacksonville, Alabama for a date with the Jacksonville St. Lady Gamecocks.  Bama will return home on Saturday, March 8 when they open SEC play against the Arkansas Lady Razorbacks.

The Kansas Jayhawks claimed the Crimson Classic championship, but needed extra innings to do it, defeating the Texas-Arlington Lady Mavericks 2-1 in eight innings.

Lindsey Weinstein tagged on a fly ball to right field and slid in around the tag of catcher Crystal Krebs to score the winning run and secure the championship for the Jayhawks.
