Feb. 9, 2012

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - The Alabama softball team will be featured nine times to a television audience, the Southeastern Conference announced Thursday. A total of 30 SEC softball games will air in accordance with the agreement with the ESPN networks and regional partners FOX Sports South/SportSouth and CSS.

The Crimson Tide will play in front of a national audience six times on the ESPN family of networks. The nine total television dates are the most of any team in the conference.

Alabama opens its TV schedule against Mississippi on March 17 on ESPNU. The Tide will have its doubleheader against the Tennessee Lady Vols televised on CSS on March 21. UA will then play an ESPNU contest at rival Auburn on March 27 on the tail end of the doubleheader.

On April 6, Alabama will welcome LSU for an ESPNU game and then the series finale will air on Fox Sports South on April 8.

ESPN2 will cover a rare Thursday night game when Alabama heads to Athens, Ga., to face the Bulldogs on April 19. The Florida series in Tuscaloosa will once again be televised as ESPN2 will carry the March 5 game and the series finale will be on ESPNU.

All SEC Softball Tournament games will be televised live on the ESPN networks. Three of the quarterfinal games and the two semifinal games will air on ESPNU. Thursday night's quarterfinal game will air on ESPN as well as Saturday's championship game.
