Oct. 13, 2013

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. - The Alabama softball team got the fall season underway by sweeping the Northwest Florida State Raiders in Fall Brawl I with scores of 11-2 and 4-0 behind the freshman bats of Marisa Runyon and Chandler Dare.

Murphy utilized the doubleheader to explore different players in every position save centerfield where All-American Haylie McCleneywas the only player to carry over from game one to game two.

"In the fall I switch up the lineup totally," head coach Patrick Murphysaid. "There is going to be a new lead off hitter and clean up hitter. I will have different pitchers every game. I want to see what combinations work best both in the field and in the lineup, because someone might come out of nowhere and be a great clean up hitter."
