HEAD COACH Patrick Murphy
"I want to congratulate Western Kentucky first off. They had a great year and represented themselves and the Sun Belt Conference very well. For their first appearance in an NCAA Regional - I know it was a tough day today, but I didn't think they looked like a first-timer Friday or Saturday. I am sure they will be back because they have a lot of young, really good kids. Second, we always say we are going to save the best for last and peak at the right time and [today] was probably the best we have played all year. I watched their left handed pitcher yesterday and I was thinking to myself `I hope she doesn't pitch against us,' because I thought she did a really good job against USC Upstate, [but] they did start her. Our defense was very good and we had 15 hits, so I am a happy coach."
#10 Kaila Hunt, 2B
On if this win today showed that Alabama is still in the hunt:
"We wanted to try to make a statement. I thought we did a really good job. They are a great team - obviously they made it to the Tuscaloosa Regional Championship. I thought like Coach Murphy said we are starting to peak at the right time and I thought we got a lot of timely hits and Jackie Traina pitched great, [and we] played really great defense."
#19 Danielle Richard, DH
On the power of Alabama hitting today:
"It helps any team when you have good hitters. Today - like Kaila Hunt said - we just had timely hitting. We had a lot of successful bunts today with Jadyn Spencer and Danae Hays laying down good bunts. It's all about all of it coming together."
#33 Jackie Traina, P
On today's performance:
"I felt great. Leslie Jury came in [for me] and did a great job and that's why we have a [pitching] staff, that's what they're for. Lauren Sewell could have been put in the same position. I am confident in them."
On her successful changeup today:
"Well when you don't have something else, you need to make sure that another pitch is just as good. I am pretty confident in all of them."
HEAD COACH TYRA PERRY
"We came to play and I believe we did that. It's a great experience for our program. I know that the returners are excited about the possibilities now. Our program has definitely moved into a different direction - all thanks to our six seniors that we have - one of which is here - Ciara Garcia. They have given everything that they have every single game. Without the leadership that those six seniors have provided for us we wouldn't be here today."
#4 CIARA GARCIA, 1B
On the four years:
"It has been a great experience. From the bottom - we didn't go to conference - we didn't go to regionals. Every year we have grown so much. All six of us as seniors - we call ourselves `the wolf pack' because we have to fight for everything against all obstacles. Playing out there at regionals and the championship of the regional - it was a great feeling to see my teammates around me and know that this is the team I wanted to play with. It's been such a great ride and it's just weird to be suddenly done. I wouldn't have chosen to play with anyone else."
