Jacksonville State

Head Coach Jana McGinnis

Opening Statement: "Obviously this is not the way you want to end your season. No coach in the nation likes the last game. A lot of the reason is because you have to say goodbye to your seniors. I can say that we are fortunate because at least these seniors got to play their last games in the best environment in the country, as far as softball goes. They got to experience that last night. They won a conference championship. They got to go to a NCAA Regional. I am so proud of them. It is not the game we wanted for today but it is like I told our senior class, `Don't let these last games burn in your mind of your career, because it says nothing about you as a senior class.' It won't, they will get over this and think about all of the good things that they gave Jacksonville State University and Jacksonville State softball. They gave us a lot, not just as softball players, but as people and I am proud of them."

On the mindset of the team coming into today's game: "We were going to go in there and give it all we had. That was our plan. Obviously we wanted to come out with a win, but I would not want to go into battle with any other group of girls."

On the mindset of the team coming into today's game: "We just realized that after the tournament, every postseason game is a blessing. We all worked so hard and we knew every postseason game we had to play like it was our last. That is why we had a good game against Alabama. Even though we lost we knew the next day that we had to play like it was our last. This is what we live for - Regionals. We wanted to show the rest of the country that this program can compete with Alabama and with the schools at this level. I know we lost but we are happy."
