TUSCALOOSA, Ala. - The Western Kentucky Lady Toppers beat the USC Upstate Spartans 3-0, to close out game one of the 2013 NCAA Softball Tuscaloosa Regional being held at Rhodes Stadium this weekend.

Western Kentucky opened the scoring in the bottom of the first with a homerun from third basemen Preslie Cruce. The Lady Toppers salted it away with two more runs in the fifth inning. Emily Rousseau picked up the win for WKU, pushing her record to 25-6, while Jamie Ujvari took the loss for Upstate, falling to 19-4.

Western Kentucky returns to action Saturday at 1 p.m. against the winner of Friday's 6 p.m. Alabama-Jackson State game. Upstate faces the loser of tonight's contest in an elimination game Saturday at 3:30 p.m.
