GAINESVILLE, Fla. - Alabama senior pitcher Kelsi Dunne kept the potent Florida bats quiet and Crimson Tide junior Amanda Locke's bat was far from silent as the duo led Alabama to a 5-0 win, Friday night at Katie Seashole Pressly Stadium. With the win the Tide improve to 42-5 overall and 16-4 in Southeastern Conference play.

Dunne (21-2) allowed just three infield singles as she handed Florida (38-8, 13-7 SEC) just its second shutout of the season. The senior struck out six and walked four to earn the complete game shutout.

Locke continued her torrid hitting at the plate by taking advantage of her name in the four-spot of the lineup. The junior batted 2-for-3, with a three-run homer to lift her average to .306 on the season.

Locke was the only Tide player to record a multi-hit game as Alabama banged out four on the evening. Senior Whitney Larsen reached base twice while junior Cassie Reilly-Boccia and freshman Kaila Hunt each recorded a RBI.

Florida threatened in the second inning after a leadoff walk, an error and then a bunt single, loaded the bases. Dunne was not deterred though as she buckled down and struck out the side to send Alabama back in the dugout with the scoreless tie.

Alabama chased Florida pitcher Stephanie Brombacher (15-1) quickly in the fourth inning and then opened the scoring with two runs in the frame. Reilly-Boccia hit a deep sacrifice-fly into left to score Larsen from third and then Hunt squeaked a ball through the left side to plate pinch-runner Ryan Iamurri from third.

In the fifth, the Tide added three runs on one swing of the bat. Locke took a 2-1 pitch with two outs and blasted her eighth home run on the season over the wall in left to score sophomore Courtney Conley and Larsen. Conley started off the inning with a double to left and then with two outs, Larsen drew a walk on four straight pitches.

The two teams will meet for the second time in the series on Saturday. First pitch is scheduled for 4 p.m. ET at Katie Seashole Pressly Stadium. The game will be the first of two in the series broadcasted on the ESPN family of networks. Beth Mowins, Michele Smith and Jessica Mendoza will call the action on ESPN2.
