TUSCALOOSA, Ala. - The Alabama softball team fell to Auburn, 7-4, Saturday afternoon at Rhoads Stadium. The win by the Tigers snaps an 18-game winning streak by the Crimson Tide in the series. After the day, Alabama moves to 28-4 overall and 5-3 in Southeastern Conference play.

A five-run Auburn (21-12, 2-6 SEC) third inning on the strength of three Alabama errors eventually sunk the Tide. The Tigers out-hit the Tide, 11-9.

Sophomore Jadyn Spencer and junior Jackie Traina paced Alabama at the plate with two hits apiece. Emily Carosoness led all players with a 4-for-5 day for Auburn.

Marcy Harper (11-5) earned the win for the Tigers, allowing four runs on nine hits. Leslie Jury (9-2) was tagged with the loss after allowing six runs - three earned on 10 hits in 5 1/3 innings.

After Auburn threated in the first two innings, Alabama opened the scoring in the second with three runs. Spencer singled in freshman pinch-runner Kallie Case on a single up the middle and then sophomore Danielle Richard hit a two-run shot off the scoreboard to give the Tide an early 3-0 lead. The home run was the fifth on the year for Richard.

Traina led off the seventh inning with a solo shot to move the score to 7-4. The home run was the ninth on the season for the All-American.

The two teams will wrap up the series on Sunday. First pitch is slated for 2 p.m. CT. The game will air live on ESPNU with Mark Neely and Michele Smith on the call.
