LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla. - Alabama junior Amanda Locke hit a walk-off two-run home run in the bottom of the seventh to lead the No. 1 ranked Crimson Tide past Fordham, 3-1 Saturday at the ESPN Wide World of Sports. With the win, Alabama improves to 18-1 on the season and 2-1 at the Citrus Classic while Fordham moves to 8-9 on the year.
Freshman Jackie Traina started off the seventh inning with a shot through the left side and then Locke finished things off as she belted a towering two-run home run over the wall in left-center field. The home run was the second of the season for Locke and the first walk-off on the year for the Tide.
Traina earned the win in the circle to improve to a perfect 7-0 on the season. The rookie went the distance, allowing one unearned run on four hits while striking out nine.
Sophomore Kayla Braud extended her hitting streak to 28 games as the fleet-footed outfielder collected two of the five Alabama hits on the day.
Alabama opened the scoring in the first inning when junior Cassie Reilly-Boccia beat out a roller to the right side of the infield that plated junior Jennifer Fenton.
The Tide will continue play at the Citrus Classic as it will face No. 13 Oregon at 4 p.m. The game will be tape delayed and shown on ESPN3 on Sunday.
