Alabama wins its 10th NCAA first round regional championship
2011 (FRESHMAN) Was one of the top two-way players in the country, culminating in NFCA first team All-American honors ... was named to the NFCA All-South Region first team ... was named the SEC Pitcher of the Week once (March 21) and SEC Freshman of the Week twice (Feb. 21 and March 1) ... pitched in 37 games, starting 23 of them ...posted a 19-5 record with a 1.70 ERA and 190 strikeouts in 156 1/3 innings ... batted .351 on the year with 13 home runs and 45 RBI ... her 13 home runs and 45 RBI ranked second on the team ... hit 6-for-12 at the plate (.500), including one home run and five RBI in the Hibbett/Easton All-Alabama Classic ... earned the win against Samford, striking out five batters in five innings of work (Feb. 11) in the season opener ... helped her cause by hitting a two-run home run in her first collegiate at-bat that same game ... struck out nine batters in six innings in a shutout over South Alabama (Feb. 13) ... was named the BAMA Bash MVP, leading the team with a .667 (8-for-12) average, three home runs and 10 RBI ... hit a home run and knocked in two runs against Louisville (Feb. 18) ... hit a home run and knocked in three more runs against UT-San Antonio that same day ... hit another home run and knocked in two more runs against Louisville the next day (Feb. 19) ... was named the SEC Freshman of the Week after the BAMA Bash ... struck out nine batters in six innings against Illinois State, earning her fourth win (Feb. 25) ... she also hit a solo home run against Illinois State ... smacked an Alabama single game record three home runs in a 12-4 win over Western Michigan (Feb. 26) ... was named the SEC Freshman of the Week after her play at the USF Tournament ... pitched seven innings and had a season-high 12 strikeouts against Notre Dame, earning her sixth win of the year (March 4) ... the next day, she pitched a complete game four-hitter with nine strikeouts against Fordham, improving to 7-0 ... hit a three-run home run against Oregon that same day (March 5) ... went 3-for-3 with a home run and four RBI against Virginia, while also pitching five shutout innings to earn her eighth win (March 6) ... pitched 12 innings in two wins in the SEC/ACC Easton Challenge, running her record to 10-0 (March 11-13) ... hit a two-run home run in the second game of the Auburn series (March 16) ... struck out nine batters in that same game, earning her 11th win ... went 2-for-4 with a double, home run and drove in four runs in the series finale against Georgia (March 20) ... struck out three batters in a complete game shutout win over South Carolina (April 2) ... earned her 15th win of the season against Troy, going six innings with eight strikeouts (April 12) ... tossed her first career no-hitter in her first career postseason game ... struck out nine in five innings in the NCAA Tuscaloosa Regional opener against Jackson State ... tossed a total of 6 2/3 innings in the tournament without allowing a hit en route to being named the SEC Pitcher of the Week ... pitched a perfect 3 2/3 innings of relief in the decisive game of the Super Regional to send Alabama to the Women's College World Series ... earned the save in the WCWS opener against Cal on the strength of two strikeouts ... batted .231 with two home runs and 10 RBI during SEC play.
HIGH SCHOOL Came to Tuscaloosa from Naples, Fla., where she played at Naples High School under coach Robert Iamurri ... team won 4A state championship in 2008 ... first team all-state all four years ... named 2008 Gatorade Florida Player of the Year ... 4A Pitcher of the Year in 2008 and 2009 ... named a 2008 and 2010 Under Armour All-American ... was on the 2009 first-team ESPN All-American team ... part of the NFCA Louisville Slugger team in 2009 and 2010 ... selected 2010 first-team All-American ... posted an 85-8 record and a 0.23 ERA along with 1089 strikeouts during her prep career ... played club softball for Team North Florida under coach Coy Adkins and Kevin Fagan.
PERSONAL Jackie is the daughter of Mark Traina and Lana Turner ... has played with teammate Ryan Iamurri since the age of six ... lettered all four years in high school on the golf team ... competed in the 2003 Little League World Series where her team took second under head coach Robert Iamurri ... won the 2006 Junior League World Series where she pitched a one-hit shutout and hit two home runs ... was bit by a shark that required 23 stitches but pitched with the injury in Oklahoma City nationals in 2008.
