2012 (SOPHOMORE) University of Texas San Antonio Named Southland Conference Student-Athlete of the Year, and first-team All- Southland Conference shortstop. Earned first-team All-Southland recognition after she started all 52 contests and batted .365 with a team-leading 61 hits and 19 multi-hit games to go along with 27 runs scored, three homers and 18 RBIs. After being named the league's Freshman of the Year as a catcher a season ago, she again ranked among the circuit's top 10 in hits (61/3rd), batting average (.365/5th), on-base percentage (.425/6th) and total bases (78/6th). In Southland play, she led the team in batting average (.438), runs (11), hits (28) and on-base percentage (.486). Molly also ranked among the 50 toughest players to strike out in the country with just nine in 167 at-bats. She put together a season-best nine-game hitting streak from February 24 through March 13 in which she hit .548 (17-for-31) with four doubles, five RBIs and eight runs scored.
2011 (FRESHMAN) University of Texas San Antonio Named Southland Conference Freshman of the Year and earned second-team all-league honors starting all but one game behind the plate. Molly is ranked among the conference's best in several categories including runs scored (40/tied for first), on-base percentage (.482/second), home runs (11/third), walks (37/third), total bases (101/tied for fourth), slugging percentage (.652/fifth), batting average (.350/sixth), hits (55/tied for eighth), doubles (11/tied for eighth) and RBIs (34/tied for ninth). Her 37 walks tied a single-season school-record. Led the squad with 14 multi-hit and six multi-RBI games. Reached base in 19 consecutive games and had a 13-game hitting streak, the longest of each on the team. During the hitting streak she batted .455 (15-for-33) with three doubles, a triple, five homers and 10 RBIs. Additionally she slugged 1.061 and had a .591 on-base percentage. Earned Southland Hitter of the Week honors on Feb. 15 after leading UTSA to a win over No. 24 Illinois in which she went 4-for-4 with five RBIs including a grand slam in her second collegiate at-bat. Went 2-for-2 with a pair of homers and four RBIs at No. 3 Alabama (Feb. 18). Helped UTSA tie an NCAA record when she was one of four consecutive players to homer in a win at Texas State (April 29). Hit .364 (16-for-44) with runners in scoring position and .396 (21-for-53) with two outs, while posting nine two-out RBIs. In 30 Southland contests, hit .310 with 27 hits, 24 runs, eight doubles, five homers, and 17 RBIs and recorded a .981 fielding percentage with 226 putouts and 36 assists. Threw out 21 runners, the second most in the conference.
HIGH SCHOOL Two-time team MVP for District 24-5A at Clear Brook High School during her junior and senior year. A letter winner and starter all four years. Tabbed All-Greater Houston who helped lead Clear Brook to the district title and the first round of the Class 5A playoffs. First-team All-District and All-State Honorable Mention selection by the Texas Sports Writers Association in 2008. Earned All-District Honorable Mention accolades at third base as a freshman. Played select ball for Texas Aces Gold and the Houston Power Gold under coach John Glowacz.
PERSONAL Daughter of Eric and Jana Fichtner in Houston, Texas and has one sister, Amber, who graduated from Texas A&M in May 2012 and currently attends Physicians Assistant school at the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston, Texas.
