TUSCALOOSA, Ala. - Junior forward Pia Rijsdijk was selected to the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) All-South Region Third Team, the organization announced on Wednesday.
It marks the second time that Rijsdijk was honored by the NSCAA as an all-region performer during her Alabama career (also earned third-team honors following her freshman year in 2011). She becomes just the second UA player in program history to be selected as an all-region performer on two different occasions, joining former defender Nellie Barnes who earned third-team all-region honors in 1996 and 1997.
Rijsdijk finished the 2013 campaign at or near the top in every offensive category for the Tide. She led Alabama in goals (7), points (18) and game-winning goals (2) and was second on the team in assists (4), shots (42) and shots on goal (16) this season.
Rijsdijk, a native of Numansdorp, Netherlands, developed into one of the top players in the SEC during league play. She scored all seven of her goals and recorded three of her four assists against SEC competition.
Along with the all-region honors, Rijsdijk was named to the All-SEC Second Team and also earned SEC Offensive Player of the Week and earned Collegesoccer360.com Primetime Performer of the Week honors for the week of Sept. 30.
