TUSCALOOSA, AL-Sophomore goalkeeper Laura Lowman kept her opponent scoreless for the second time this weekend as the Crimson Tide soccer team (7-3-0) downed the South Alabama Jaguars (3-5-2) 1-0.
The shutout was Lowman's third of the season and the eighth of her career. She has now posted 261 consecutive minutes of scoreless soccer including Friday night's 2-0 shutout of La.-Lafayette.
Alabama broke into the scoring column when Libby Probst took a pass from Emily Pitek and finished off the one-timer for the lone goal of the match. The goal was Probst's seventh of the season as well as her fifth career game-winning goal.
The win also put Head Coach Don Staley, who won his 100th career game at Alabama on Friday, at 290 career wins, only 10 wins away from the exclusive 300-win club.
Alabama owned the first half offensively, out shooting the Jaguars 11-6, however USA took it to the Tide offensively in the second half out shooting Alabama 12-4, but they couldn't get anything past Lowman.
The victory closed out Alabama's pre-SEC schedule as the Tide hits the road next weekend to take on the No. 5 ranked Florida Gators in Gainesville and the South Carolina Gamecocks in Columbia.
