Many of the Crimson Tide current and future stars have begun their summer schedules. Below is an update as to what the Tide women are up to.
Justine Bernier (Toronto Lady Lynx)
The All-SEC and Canadian International goalkeeper played a full 90 in a 1-1 tie against the Canadian U-20 National team coached by Senior Team coach Carolina Morace. The Lynx finish their pre-season home schedule on Wednesday, May 19 against the London Gryphons before opening up the W-League season on Sunday, May 30 against the Rochester Ravens.
Emily Cox (St. Piux X/ GSA 92 Red)
Incoming freshman goalkeeper Emily Cox led as St. Piux X defeated Creekview 5-0 in the Georgia Class AAA girls' soccer championship game Saturday night to complete back-to-back title runs. The Lady Golden Lions finish the year with a streak of eight straight shutouts, and the team scored a dominant 33 goals in five games during its playoff run. Cox closed out her senior year with an impressive showing stopping six Creekview shots in the game en route to the shutout. Emily will now re-join her GSA 92 Red team as they also attempt to get back to the US Youth Soccer National Championships by competing in the Georgia State Cup and the Southern Regionals in June.
K.K. Duffy (Atlanta Silverbacks)
Junior defender K.K. Duffy returned to her native Atlanta to begin training and playing with the Atlanta Silverbacks. The Silverbacks opened the W-League campaign with a 1-0 win on Saturday and will be back in action on Saturday, May 22 against the Tampa Bay Hellenic.
Courtney Pixler (Crossfire Premier)
Incoming freshman and ESPN RISE All-American defender, Courtney Pixler anchored the backline that led her Crossfire Premier '91 team to their Sixth Washington State Championship by beating Eastside FC '91 2-0 in the GU18 final. For Crossfire, it was their fourth shut-out of the state tournament where they amassed an incredible 32-2 scoring advantage through their five games. Crossfire will attempt to get back to the US Youth Soccer National Championships by competing in the Far West Regionals in Albuquerque, N.M., in mid-June.
Jewelia Strickland (Whitewater High School / AFC Lightning 92 White)
Incoming freshman defender and NSCAA Scholar All-American Jewelia Strickland's Whitewater High School team fell just short of a Georgia AAAA State Championship with a narrow 2-1 loss to rival Starr's Mill. Strickland will now rejoin her AFC Lightning team as they compete in the Georgia State Cup and the US Soccer Southern Regionals in June.
Victoria Frederick (Seattle Sounders Women)
Senior forward Victoria Frederick relocated to Seattle for the summer to begin training and playing with the Seattle Sounders Women. The Sounders open the W-League season on Friday, May 28 against the Ft. Collins Force.
