The University of Alabama women’s soccer program has announced that it has added an Alumni game to the 2002 schedule.

The game is scheduled for Friday, August 24 at 7:00 p.m. at the University of Alabama Soccer Complex.

“I think this game will give our current team a chance to revisit the past,” said Alabama Head Coach Don Staley.  “It will give them a chance to get to know the players who built the program and it will also give them some good competition before our first match with Tulane.”

The last time the Tide had an Alumni Game was August 21, 1999.  That game ended in a 1-1 tie.

“I’m very excited about it, but I’m also excited about getting the opportunity to catch up with the alumni, a lot of whom have gone on, got married and had children,” said Staley.

The Tide will use the exhibition match to kick-off the 2002 season before traveling to New Orleans on August 26 to take on the Tulane Green Wave in the first match of the season.
