TUSCALOOSA, Ala. - The Alabama soccer team returns home for the final two matches of the spring season as it welcomes Southeastern Conference foe Mississippi State to the Alabama Soccer Stadium on Friday, April 13, with kickoff slated for 7 p.m.
The Crimson Tide enters the match with a 1-1-1 record on the spring after posting a 1-1 draw on the road to the Memphis Tigers. Junior Kaitlyn Smith scored the lone goal for the Tide, tying the game in the 60th minute with a long range strike. Freshman goalkeeper Emily Rusk played the entire game for Alabama, making several key stops.
Alabama and Mississippi State met during the regular season this past fall, with the Tide and the Bulldogs playing to a 2-2 draw. After giving up a third minute goal, Alabama bounced back with goals by Kendall Khanna and Theresa Diederich, 11 minutes apart, before MSU tied it in the 35th minute. Both Alabama goals were assisted by Pia Rijsdijk.
Alabama will now host Lee University on Sunday, April 22 with kickoff scheduled for 2 p.m., to cap off the spring season. The match is a late addition to the spring slate as the Tide and LSU Tigers will no longer meet in Orange Beach as originally scheduled.
