TUSCALOOSA, Ala. The Alabama soccer team will open the home portion of its spring schedule as it welcomes instate rival UAB to the Alabama Soccer Stadium. The two teams will square off on Friday, March 30, with kickoff slated for 7 p.m.
The Crimson Tide started its spring season in impressive fashion as it downed Samford, 3-1, on the road on Feb. 26. Molly Atherton, Ashley Willis and newcomer Katie Bourgeois scored the goals for Alabama, while rookie keeper Emily Rusk played every minute in goal.
Alabama and UAB met during the regular season this past fall, with the Tide earning a hard fought 1-0 victory over the Blazers. Willis scored in the 77th minute while Justine Bernier earned her third clean sheet of the season.
Alabama will play three more spring matches as it will continue play on the road at Memphis on Wednesday, April 4. It will then host Mississippi State on Friday, April 13 and close spring play on April 21 against LSU at Orange Beach.
