OXFORD, Miss. - The Alabama soccer team closed out its week with a 3-0 loss at Mississippi, Sunday afternoon at the Ole Miss Soccer Stadium. After the day, the Crimson Tide moves to 6-4-2 overall and 1-2-1 in Southeastern Conference play.
Alabama allowed two first half goals and then one early in the second to wrap up the weekend. Rafaelle Souza scored two of the three goals for the Rebels.
Souza scored her eighth goal on the season in the 11th minute when she headed in a cross from Dylan Jordan to give UM the early 1-0 advantage.
In the 36th minute Meredith Snow scored her first goal on the season when she found the back of the net off a corner kick taken by Alix Hildal.
Souza struck again for the final tally for Mississippi, scoring an unassisted goal in the 56th minute. The goal was her ninth on the season.
UM outshot UA 17-3, including 10-1 in the first half. Alabama senior goalkeeper Justine Bernier allowed the three goals while making eight saves. Redshirt freshman Theresa Diederich paced the Tide with two shots.
Alabama will continue to stay on the road as it will head to South Carolina and Florida to face the best the conference has to offer. The Tide will face the Gamecocks on Friday, Oct. 7, with a 7 p.m. ET, kickoff, before heading to Gainesville to play Florida on Oct. 9. The match against the Gators will air at 3 p.m. ET, on ESPNU.
