DENVER, Colo. - The Alabama soccer team fell to No. 20 Denver, 2-0, in the final game of the 2013 Denver Invitational on Sunday afternoon.
The Pioneers improve to a program-best 6-0 record with the win, while the Crimson Tide slips to 1-4 on the season.
The Pioneers jumped on the board in the 19th minute when Nikki Pappalardo scored the game's first goal to give her team a 1-0 lead. Kristen Hamilton then put the game out of reach with a goal at the 70:58 mark to result in the final score.
Sophomore goalkeeper Emily Rusk, making her second consecutive start in the net for Alabama, made seven saves in the contest. She made 19 saves vs. Colorado on Friday night, which were the second-most in a game in UA program history, and finished tournament play with a total of 26 saves.
The Denver contest marked Alabama's second match against a team ranked among the nation's top 25 and the third time the Crimson Tide has faced an undefeated team this season.
The Crimson Tide will return to action next week when it travels to take on the Memphis Tigers on Friday at 7 p.m. CT. Alabama will then return home to square off with in-state rival UAB on Sunday at 7 p.m. at the Alabama Soccer Complex.
