TUSCALOOSA, Ala. - Alabama head rowing coach Larry Davis announced the Crimson Tide’s 2013 spring schedule on Tuesday. Alabama will take part in eight events, including a tri-meet in April on the Black Warrior River in Tuscaloosa, Ala.
“Our spring 2013 schedule has great balance to it,” Davis said. “It will provide the opportunity to test ourselves against the best, yet give us recovery weekends from tough road trips that will maximize our ability to continue to race at a high level throughout the spring and be on the top of our game for conference championships in May.”
The schedule features large regattas such as the Louisville Invitational and the Knecht Cup, which will include ranked opposition in the likes of Virginia, Clemson, and Notre Dame among a host of others.
The Tide will open the spring season in Oak Ridge, Tenn., for the Louisville Invitational March 16-17. Davis also announced that the UA rowing team will be hosting Central Florida and West Virginia on April 6 on the Black Warrior River.
“We’re especially excited to host two of our conference foes at our home Power of Pink and senior day event where the support of our fans cheering us on to victory at Manderson Landing as we race on the Black Warrior River is always a special experience, Davis said.”
Following its home meet, the Tide will compete in the Knecht Cup in Camden, N.J., April 13-14. The Tide will take to the road again April 26-27 in Bloomington, Ind., where they will compete in a quad meet against Indiana, Notre Dame, and Iowa.
The Tide will return to Oak Ridge, Tenn., to close out the season with the Conference USA Championships, May 17-18.
