Ashley Allison Named to C-USA Rowing All-Academic Team

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – Alabama junior rower Ashley Allison was named to the 2014 C-USA Rowing All-Academic Team, announced by the conference Thursday.

“We always want our student-athletes to truly be both students and athletes,” said Head Coach Larry Davis. “Ashley has those rare qualities where she excels at both levels. We are very proud of everything she has achieved and she is well-deserving of the honor.”

Allison was one of 15 honorees named to the All-Academic team across the conference’s 11 rowing institutions. The junior out of Ocoee, Fla., holds a 3.82 cumulative GPA in aerospace engineering and has been a mainstay in the Varsity 8 over the past two seasons. This season, Allison also earned the C-USA Commissioner’s Academic Medal and was named to the Commissioner’s Honor Roll.

This weekend, Allison and the Alabama Rowing crew heads to Oak Ridge, Tenn., for the C-USA Championship on Saturday, May 17. Competition on Melton Hill Lake is set to begin at 8 a.m. CT and will wrap up with the awards presentation at 3:45 p.m. CT.
