TUSCALOOSA, Ala. - Alabama Rowing continues its season this weekend in Rancho Cordova, Calif., squaring off against Sacramento State and San Diego State on Saturday, March 22 and St. Mary's on Sunday, March 23.

Saturday races are set to begin at 10 a.m. CT with the Novice 8/3rd Varsity 8. The 2nd Varsity 8 will begin at 10:30 a.m. and the Varsity 8 will start at 11:30 a.m.

"For a lot of the girls, this is the first time they've competed out west," said Head Coach Larry Davis. "In a new venue like this, you have to get yourself in a groove and not let the surrounding take you out of your game. The California teams rarely come east until the end of the year so I thought this was a great opportunity to compete against them early."

Last week, Alabama competed at the Oak Ridge Cardinal Invitational in Oak Ridge, Tenn. There, Alabama faced a number of teams including Conference USA opponents Tennessee, Kansas, West Virginia and Tulsa.

"It's always nice to get some wins," said Davis. "We had some of those but the thing we also found encouraging was that, since facing some of these teams in the fall, we've picked up some speed. That has been one of our big goals, to reel in some of those teams that have passed us in the past."
