Rowing Finishes Day One of the Head of the Hooch with a Pair of Top-10 Finishes

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. - The Alabama rowing team earned a pair of top-10 finishes at the Head of the Hooch Regatta Saturday on the Tennessee River.

Alabama finished 11th and 19th in the Championship 8+ race, posting times of 16:56.1 and 17:33.2 respectively. Miami's "A" boat took top honors with a time of 16:07.7. In the College & Club Novice 8+ race the Tide took eighth with a time of 18:02.5 and 22nd after crossing the line at 20:09.8. Jacksonville University turned in a 19:22.2 to win the Novice 8+ race.

In the Championship 4+, Alabama was 17th and 25th, with times 18:54.8 and 19:50.8, respectively, while Tennessee won the race by posting a 17:37.8. Alabama took eighth and 12th in the Championship 2x race, going 20:31.1 and 21:09.9 while the Dallas Rowing Club won the race with a time of 19:41.6.

Alabama returns to action Sunday, putting two boats in the Open 2- and five boats in the Open 8+ races. The Chattanooga-based regatta closes out the fall portion of the UA rowing team's fall season.
