Rowing Concludes Season at Conference USA Championships

OAK RIDGE, Tenn. – The Alabama rowing team wrapped up its season with a 10th place finish at the Conference USA Rowing Championships, Saturday on Melton Hill Lake. 

“The girls performed reasonably well,” Alabama head rowing coach Larry Davis said. “There are things that we have to continue to improve on. We are still letting our youth show and there are things we still want to make progress on. The attitudes are strong and we are looking forward to next year.” 

The Varsity 4+ boat for the Crimson Tide took second in the Petite Final with a time of 7:56.47. The Tide took fifth in its heat with a 7:56.62 to advance to the afternoon race. 

The 2nd Varsity 8+ took fourth in the Petite Final with a time of 7:09.04. The squad reached afternoon racing by placing fourth in its heat with a 7:02.10. 

The 1st Varsity 8+ placed fourth in its Petite Final with a 6:54.11. The boat started the day by finishing fifth in its heat with a 6:59.94. 

The Novice 8+ boat made the Grand Final and placed sixth with a time of 7:24.20.  UA placed third in its heat with a 7:22.80. 

Alabama senior Tabitha Coleman was named to the to the 2013 All-Conference USA Team, the league announced after racing was completed.
