WEST WINDSOR TOWNSHIP, N.J. – Alabama Rowing had a successful first day of action at the Knect Cup Regatta on Saturday, as four crews successfully advanced through the first round and semifinals to qualify for Sunday’s finals.
Alabama’s Varsity 8 finished in 7:01.23 in their opening race, placing third in their heat to qualify for the semifinals. The crew improved its time in the semifinal, crossing the finish line in 6:59.25, finishing in fourth in the second heat to qualify for Sunday’s Petite Final.
The Novice 8 placed third in the second heat (7:19.29) of the opening race, advancing to the semifinals where they placed fourth in the third heat (7:18.50) to qualify for Sunday’s Petite Final.
The 2nd Varsity 8 boat finished in 7:10.32, placing fourth in the third heat to advance to the semifinals, where they finished third in their heat (6:55.32), qualifying for Sunday’s Petite Final.
Alabama’s Varsity 4 placed the highest of any boat in the first round, placing second in their opening round heat (7:54.31) but finishing a close fifth place in the semifinals, crossing the line in 7:49.95 to qualify for Sunday’s Third Final.
The Second Varsity 4 crew placed fourth in the third heat of the opening round (8:05.47), falling short of the cutoff to Sunday’s final round.
Alabama begins action on Sunday at 9:20 a.m. ET with the Third Final of the Varsity 4.
