TUSCALOOSA, Ala. -
The two-time defending NCAA Champion Alabama gymnastics team will hold its annual Ghosts and Goblins Intrasquad Friday, Oct. 26 starting at 2:00 p.m. in the Frances Smith Practice Facility located in Coleman Coliseum.
"We're looking forward to a great weekend here at the Capstone starting with our annual Ghosts and Goblins Intrasquad on Friday," Sarah Patterson, now in her 35th year as Alabama's head coach, said. "We invite everyone to join us for a sneak peek at the current team and a really fun afternoon in the gym."
Eight-time All-American and fifth-year senior Ashley Priess will once again lead the Ghosts, looking to make it back-to-back intrasquad titles for her team. Senior All-American Ashley Sledge, who won the intrasquad all-around title last year, will be looking to lead the Goblins to a sixth title in the past eight years.
Priess will be joined by fellow Ghosts junior All-American Kim Jacob, sophomore All-American Kayla Williams, senior Becca Alexin, sophomores Brooke Parker, Kaitlyn Clark and Hunter Dennis as well as freshman Lauren Beers.
Sledge's Goblins cohorts include senior All-American Marissa Gutierrez, junior All-Americans Sarah DeMeo and Diandra Milliner, juniors Olivia Carisella, Ria Domier and Lindsey Fowler, sophomore Lora Leigh Frost and freshman Carley Sims.
Ghosts and Goblins is just the start of the Crimson Tide's weekend. Friday evening, the 2012 NCAA Championship team will be recognized during the Homecoming pep rally on the University Quad.
On Saturday, the team will be part of the Homecoming parade that gets underway at 2 p.m. Following the parade, the team be signing autographs on the Quad Saturday from 4:30-5:15 p.m. and will be giving away posters, "Back2Back Gymnastics Champions" wristbands and stickers.
