TUSCALOOSA, Ala. - The day after receiving their NCAA Championship rings during halftime of the Alabama-Tennessee football game, the Alabama Gymnastics team went back to work with the annual Ghosts and Goblins Intrasquad in the Frances Smith Practice Facility.

"This is the earliest we've held the Ghosts and Goblins and I think overall we did a great job for where we are right now," UA head coach Sarah Patterson said. "Our ladies competed in front of the largest crowd we've ever had for this event and it was exciting to have so many fans join us."

The Ghosts - senior All-Americans Ashley Priess and Rachel Terry, sophomore All-Americans Diandra Milliner and Kim Jacob, junior Becca Alexin, sophomores Hannah Toussaint, Lindsey Fowler and Olivia Carisella and freshman Kayla Williams - won the competition, which is based on a points formula, for just the second time in the past seven years and the first time since 2007.

"Several of our ladies excelled under pressure today, while some changed what they've been doing," Patterson said. "We need to put them under more of that kind of pressure, which is why we'll hold an open practice prior to the Alabama-LSU game in two weeks."

Alabama will hold an open practice Saturday, Nov. 5 at noon prior to the Alabama-LSU football game. The public is invited and admission is free.

NCAA floor exercise champion Geralen Stack-Eaton as well as All-Americans Ashley Sledge and Marissa Gutierrez, sophomore All-American Sarah DeMeo, sophomore Ria Domier as well as freshmen Lora Leigh Frost, Brooke Parker and Kaitlyn Clark, made up the Goblins squad which had won five of the last six intrasquad titles coming into Sunday.

Sledge won the all-around competition, followed by Milliner in second and Stack-Eaton in third.

"Ashley has improved each season and has come light years from where she was as a freshman," Patterson said.

The Tide opens the defense of fifth NCAA Championship Friday, Jan. 13 against Georgia in the first of five regular season home meets. Season tickets are available through the Alabama Ticket Office (205.348.2262) located in the lobby of Coleman Coliseum or online at RollTide.com.
