TUSCALOOSA, Ala. -
The Alabama gymnastics team jumped to third place in the national rankings heading into this weekend's Southeastern Conference Championships.
Florida and Oklahoma remained first and second, respectively this week while the Crimson Tide leapfrogged UCLA which now sits at No. 4. No. 5 Georgia, No. 6 Nebraska and No. 7 Utah, remain in the same positions as last week while LSU and Oregon State are now tied for eighth place while Arkansas rounds out the top 10.
Alabama is second on the vault again this week, and jumped to No. 3 on the balance beam. The Tide is also ranked No. 7 on both the uneven bars and the floor exercise.
Senior Ashley Priess is sixth on the balance beam this week after posting a 9.925 against UNC and 13th on the uneven bars after scoring a 9.9 against the Tar Heels.
Sophomore Diandra Milliner and junior Marissa Gutierrez are tied for ninth on the vault, while senior Geralen Stack-Eaton and junior Ashley Sledge are tied for 25th. Stack-Eaton is also ranked 14th on the floor exercise and 17th on the uneven bars.
The Tide travels to Duluth, Ga. for the SEC Championships which will be held Saturday, March 24 at 4 p.m. EDT in the Arena at Gwinnett Center.
