BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - University of Alabama gymnasts Kim Jacob has been named to the 11th-annual Southeastern Conference Gymnastics Community Service Team, the league office announced Wednesday.

"Kim is the epitome of what we look for in an Alabama gymnast," UA head coach Sarah Patterson said. "In addition to being one of our hardest workers in both the gym and the classroom, she has embraced service to the community - which is one of the cornerstones of our program - with equal dedication. I couldn't be prouder of all she has accomplished"

A seven-time All-American, Jacob earned a place on the SEC team for the second year in a row after volunteering with the UA Adapted Sports Camp, the Community Soup Kitchen, the Stallings RISE Center, the ReadBAMARead Foundation and Suds For Sully.

She has also given her time to the Nite on the Green Golf Tournament, "Tailgating with the Stars", the Crimson Tide Halloween Extravaganza, Feed the Hungry, Step Out Walk to Stop Diabetes, Dead Broke Farm, Project Angel Tree and the DCH Cancer Center.

A three-year Scholastic All-American and winner of the 2013 NCAA Elite 89 Award, Jacob has also earned All-SEC honors and was the 2012 and 2013 SEC Gymnastics Scholar-Athlete of the Year. She carries a perfect 4.0 grade point average for her career and is one of the nation's top gymnasts as a senior.

The SEC sponsors a Community Service Team for each of the 20 sports it sponsors. The Gymnastics Community Service Team represents eight SEC gymnasts, one from each competing institution, highlighting an athlete from each school who gives back to their community in superior service efforts.

Previous Crimson Tide honorees are: Ria Domier (2012), Alyssa Chapman (2011), Kassi Price (2010), Ricki Lebegern (2009, 2008), Courtney Priess (2007), Dana Pierce (2006, 2005) and Stephanie Kite (2004).
