TUSCALOOSA, Ala. - The No. 4 Alabama gymnastics team takes on No. 10 Stanford this Friday at 7:30 p.m. in Coleman Coliseum. The Crimson Tide comes into the meet after posting a season-best 197.675 to beat previously undefeated Florida last Friday, but the season gets no easier with the West Coast powerhouse Cardinal.

"Stanford is really good so we can't afford a let down from that high against Florida," UA head coach Sarah Patterson said. "Because if we do, that team is talented enough to jump up and bite us. We need to keep this momentum going, and not just from a student-athlete standpoint, but also in terms of our fans. There's no doubt that they helped lift us up against Florida and we need that the rest of the way."

Friday is also Academic Achievement Night in Coleman Coliseum and Alabama gymnastics will honor Tuscaloosa city and county elementary school students who earned a place on the A/B honor roll with free admission to the meet with the vouchers they received from their schools.

"I am so proud of the success we've earned in the classroom over the years," Patterson said. "Our ladies work very hard to be the best they can academically and I think that shows. That's one of the reasons why Friday's Academic Achievement Night is so great. We love the chance to honor Tuscaloosa students who have excelled in the classroom."

Alabama is led by All-American and Scholastic All-American seniors Kim Jacob and Diandra Milliner. Jacob posted a 9.925 on the uneven bars and a 9.950 on the floor exercise against Florida, taking first in both events. Milliner posted a 9.9 on the vault as well as a 9.950 on the floor exercise to end the competition, tying for first place on the floor exercise and clinching the Tide's win.

Friday's meet in Tuscaloosa will be the Tide's ninth meet of the season and fifth home meet. Stanford is coming off of a win at home against Cal-Berkley, improving their record to 13-2. Stanford is led by redshirt junior Kristina Vaculik who is ranked 9th on the uneven bars and 15th on the floor exercise.

After taking on Stanford, the Tide closes out the regular season next Friday at home against the Auburn Tigers. Tickets are available now through the Alabama Ticket Office (205.348.2262) located in the lobby of Coleman Coliseum or online at
