The Alabama gymnastics team moved up to No. 4 in the national rankings after placing second in the Perfect 10 Challenge last Friday. The Crimson Tide posted its second-highest road score of the season and a season-best score of 49.550 on the vault in Oklahoma City.
In the first week that the ranking have been determined by regional qualifying score (RQS), LSU took over the top spot followed by last week's No. 1 squad and one of the Tide's opponents at the Perfect 10 Challenge, Oklahoma. Florida, Alabama's next opponent and the defending NCAA Champion, is third followed by the Crimson Tide.
Utah fell to fifth this week followed by No. 6 Georgia, No. 7 Nebraska and No. 8 Michigan. UCLA is at No. 9 and Stanford, who the Tide will face in Coleman Coliseum on March 7, rounds out the top 10.
Alabama is fourth on the vault and balance beam and sixth on the uneven bars and floor exercise.
Senior Kim Jacob is ranked eighth on the balance beam, 18th on the uneven bars, and 21st on the floor exercise. Jacob led the Tide on the uneven bars and balance beam this week scoring a 9.875 and 9.900, respectively.
Senior Diandra Milliner is ranked 12th on the vault after scoring a season-high 9.975 last week, while sophomore Lauren Beers is ranked 25th. Senior Sarah DeMeo is ranked 19th in the all-around this week while freshman Katie Bailey is ranked 21st.
Alabama returns to Coleman Coliseum this Friday at 7:30 p.m. to take on Florida. This will be Alabama's fourth home meet of the season and first since beating Georgia on Feb. 7.
