Gymnastics Ranked Ninth; Remains No. 1 on the Balance Beam

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. - The Alabama Gymnastics team is ninth in the national rankings for the third week in a row and is once again the nation's No. 1 ranked team on the balance beam.

Utah jumped into the No. 1 spot this week, taking over for Georgia who fell into a tie for third place with the Arkansas Razorbacks which used big meets against Oklahoma and Alabama to jump from eighth place last week. UCLA is currently No. 2 while Auburn rounds out the top five. Stanford is No. 6 this week followed by Oklahoma and Florida while Oregon State is tenth. Of the nine other members of this week's top 10, six are on the Crimson Tide's schedule this season.

In addition to being the nation's top-ranked beam team, the Tide is ninth on the uneven bars and vault and 14th on the floor exercise.

Junior Ricki Lebegern is ranked 13th in the all-around and junior Morgan Dennis is seventh on the vault and 24th on the floor exercise. Freshman Ashley Priess is 12th on the balance beam and 13th on the uneven bars while fellow rookie Geralen Stack-Eaton is 14th on the beam. Senior Ashley O'Neal is ranked 19th on the floor exercise.

After spending three of the last four weeks on the road, Alabama returns home this Friday to face No. 19 Denver starting at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are available through the Alabama Ticket Office (205.348.2262) located in the lobby of Coleman Coliseum, and online at RollTide.com.
