TUSCALOOSA, Ala. Alabama freshman Kassi Price, winner of her first three all-around competitions, has been named Southeastern Conference Gymnast of the Week.
Price won her third consecutive all-around last Friday against Auburn with a 39.575, leading Alabama to a nation’s best 197.475 team score. Price scored a 9.925 on the vault, uneven bars and floor exercise against the Tigers.
“Kassi has enjoyed remarkable success already this season and is obviously well deserving of this award,” Alabama head coach Sarah Patterson said. “From day one she came in ready to go, ready to compete and she set the standard for everyone else in the gym to catch up to. She came in to practice in the fall in championship form and hasn't slowed down yet.”
Price opened the season with an all-around win against then No. 10 Oklahoma. She followed that up with a win at No. 1 Florida before taking top honors in front of 15,075 fans in Coleman Coliseum last Friday. The Plantation, Fla. native is ranked second in the nation in the all-around and on the floor exercise and ninth on the uneven bars. She is also ranked in the top-25 on the other two events.
Price and her Crimson Tide teammates return to action Friday at home against the Kentucky Wildcats. Tickets are on sale through the Alabama Ticket Office (205.348.2262) and online at RollTide.com.
