TUSCALOOSA, Ala. The Alabama Gymnastics team had another outstanding semester in the classroom, posting a 3.515 team grade point average as well as having four gymnasts named to the President’s List after earning perfect 4.0 GPAs for the fall semester.
“I am extremely pleased with the performance of our ladies in the classroom this fall,” head coach Sarah Patterson, in her 30th season at the Capstone, said. “Academics are our number one priority and I am proud of the dedication, discipline and effort our ladies put into their studies. We set high individual academic goals this fall and it is rewarding to see our student-athletes obtain such a standard of excellence.”
Sophomore Scholastic All-American Kassi Price earned a 4.0 GPA again this semester, maintaining a 4.0 GPA for her career. Junior Ashley O’Neal, sophomore Scholastic All-American Alyssa Chapman and freshman Kayla Hoffman also earned perfect 4.0 GPAs for the semester.
Senior Scholastic All-American Kaitlin White, junior Scholastic All-Americans Brittany Magee, Cassie Martin and Amanda Montgomery along with freshman Megan Mashburn were all named to the Dean’s List after posting GPAs of 3.5 or better for the fall. Freshman Jenifer Iovino and sophomore Scholastic All-Americans Ricki Lebegern and Casey Overton all earned above a 3.0 GPA for the semester.
The Crimson Tide opens the 2008 season at home Friday, Jan. 11 against Illinois. The meet starts at 7:30 p.m. and tickets are available through the Alabama Ticket Office (205.348.BAMA) located in the lobby of Coleman Coliseum or online at www.rolltide.com.
