TUSCALOOSA, Ala. - University of Alabama women's golf coach Mic Potter announced the signing of another of the nation's elite recruits to a national letter of intent on Monday when Lakareber Abe inked with the Crimson Tide.

Abe hails from Angleton, Texas, and trains at the Jim McLean Junior Academy in Fort Worth, Texas, where she is coached by Justin Poynter. She is ranked third in the Golfweek Top 100: Girls Class of 2014 and third among 2014 recruits in the AJGA Polo Golf Rankings (13th overall).

"The high level of expectations they have for everyone in the athletic department at Alabama was a big reason I chose Alabama," Abe said. "I talked a lot with Coach Potter about it, and I felt with my goals, being at Alabama and playing with the team around me, it was going to be the best place to achieve my goals."

The signing of Abe gives Alabama head coach Mic Potter the No. 1 and No. 3 players in the Golfweek Top 100: Girls Class of 2014. Nicole Morales (South Salem, N.Y.) signed with the Crimson Tide on Thurs-day to give Alabama the most impressive signing class in the nation.

"Lakareber is the No. 3-ranked junior girl in the class of 2014," Potter said. "She was the runner-up in the USGA Junior Girls Championship this past summer. Justin Poynter has done a tremendous job of taking a young lady with raw power and refining her into a very accomplished all-around player.

"Lakareber's parents, Daudi and Fiora, have raised an outstanding citizen and student. It is an honor when a student-athlete of Lakareber's caliber choses to attend The University of Alabama, and to help us continue our tradition of championship in Women's Golf."

Abe will enroll at The University of Alabama in the fall of 2014. She will be joining a squad that has fin-ished in the top 10 at the NCAA Championships for four straight years and won the 2012 NCAA title.

Abe is a 2013 Rolex Junior All-American by the American Junior Golf Association. She was runner-up at the 2013 U.S. Girls in July. Abe also finished second at the 2013 Goodman Networks Junior at Traditions and finished tied for 14th at The PING Invitational, 20th at the Rolex Girls Junior Championship and 12th at the 2013 Scott Robertson Memorial.
