TUSCALOOSA, Ala. - University of Alabama women's golf coach Mic Potter signed one of the nation's best players to a letter of intent on Thursday with Emma Talley inking with the Crimson Tide.

Talley hails from Princeton, Ky., where she was a three-time Kentucky State High School Individual Champion. She qualified for the 2011 United States Open and is ranked third in the class of 2012 in the Polo Junior Golf Rankings.

"Emma is a great junior player, and is ready to step in and assume a leading role on our 2012-2013 team," Potter said. "She has competed at the highest level of not only junior golf, but having played in this summer's U.S. Open, professional golf as well.

"Emma brings outstanding playing credentials with her to the Capstone, but maybe more importantly, she also brings a great sense of community and family. Emma will be not only a great player and leader on our golf team, she will represent the University of Alabama in a way that will make us all proud."

Talley set the American Junior Golf Association (AJGA) record this summer by winning four consecutive events. She posted victories at the AJGA Girls Championship, the AJGA Franklin Junior, the Natural Resource Partners Bluegrass Junior and the AJGA Junior at Quad Cities. She also finished seventh at the 2011 Junior PGA Championship and tied for 17th at the 2011 U.S. Girls Junior Championship and the 2010 Polo Junior Classic.

Talley was a member of the United States 2010 Junior Ryder Cup team and the 2011 Junior Solheim Cup team. She has 10 AJGA wins and was a 2011 first-team Rolex Junior All-American.

She was named the 2008 Kentucky Ms. Golf and helped lead her Caldwell County High School team to three Kentucky State Championships and six regional titles.
