TUSCALOOSA, Ala.The third Golf World/NGCA Division I Coaches’ Poll of the fall season has been released, combining the resources of Golf World magazine and the National Golf Coaches Association (NGCA). The Alabama women’s golf squad is ranked in the top-15 for the second consecutive week in now two of the polls, as the Tide check in at No. 13.
The Tide improved six spots in the poll as it sat at No. 19 before the Mercedes-Benz Collegiate Championships. Alabama earned its highest ranking under head coach Mic Potter, checking it at No.9 in the Golfweek/Sagarin rankings last week.
Alabama is coming off a 10th place finish at the Mercedes-Benz Collegiate Championships at the Cherokee Country Club in Knoxville, Tenn. Alabama finished with a three-round score of 37-over 889 on the par-71, 5,932 yard course.
Kathleen Ekey continued her brilliance in crimson and white as the junior placed fifth individually with a 1-over 214. Her score of 214 is her lowest three-round total in a Tide uniform. Ekey now has back-to-back top-5 finishes to her credit as she placed third at the Wildcat Fall Invitational.
Alabama will return to the links on Friday, October 26 to host the Ann Rhoads Intercollegiate. The three-day tournament will be played at the Northriver Yacht Club in Tuscaloosa.
