CHAPEL HILL, N.C. - The Alabama women's golf team returns to action this weekend at the 2013 Ruth's Chris Tar Heel Invitational on the par-72, 6,285-yard UNC Finley Golf Course.
The event consists of three rounds that begin on Friday, Oct. 11, and conclude on Sunday, Oct. 13. After taking a one year absence from the Tar Heel Invitational, Alabama returns after finishing first in 2010 and second in 2011.
The 18-team field is annually one of the toughest in golf and includes 11 teams in the Golf World/WGCA Coaches' poll. The second-ranked Crimson Tide are joined by No. 3 Duke, No. 4 Oklahoma, No. 6 Arkansas, No. 8 Vanderbilt, No. 10 Florida, No. 14 Virginia, No. 15 North Carolina (host), No. 18 Baylor, No. 21 North Carolina State and No. 25 Michigan State along with Clemson, LSU, Mississippi, Notre Dame, South Carolina and Wake Forest.
Senior Stephanie Meadow anchors the Alabama lineup in the No. 1 position. She leads the Crimson Tide with a 70.0 stroke average and is 6-under par on the season. She has two top-four showings and three rounds in the 60s this season.
Sophomore Emma Talley is second on the team in scoring at 72.67 and is coming off of a tie for 13th at the Mason Rudolph Championship. Senior Hannah Collier makes her first start of the season at this weekend's Tar Heel Invitational. She finished 10th in 2011 at the Tar Heel Invitational at 3-under 213, marking her first under-par total for a 54-hole tournament.
Sophomore Janie Jackson and redshirt freshman Cammie Gray round out the Alabama lineup, both making their third starts of the season.
