ANTALYA, Turkey - Alabama golfers Jennifer Kirby (Canada) and Stephanie Meadow (Ireland) finished play at the 2012 Women's World Amateur Team Championship (WWATC) on Sunday with Canada finishing seventh and Ireland tied for 15th.
Kirby, from Paris, Ontario, gave the Canadian team a lift in the final round with a 1-under-par 71. She counted toward Canada's team score in three of four rounds and finished tied for 29th at 2-over-par 290.
Meadow, from Jordanstown, Northern Ireland, also carded a 1-under 71 in the fourth and final round and counted toward the Irish team score in all four rounds. Meadow finished tied for 33rd individually at 4-over-par 292.
The four-day, 72-hole tournament was hosted by the Turkish Golf Federation in cooperation with the International Golf Federation in Antalya, Turkey, at the Gloria Golf Club's par-72, 6,203-yard Old Course and the par-72, 6,197-yard New Course.
Korea won the event with a 72-hole score of 13-under-par 563, three shots better than Germany. The United States finished eight at 6-under 570.
