TUSCALOOSA, Ala. - Alabama sophomore Stephanie Meadow was selected as the SEC Women's Golfer of the Week the conference office announced on Wednesday after earning medalist honors at the Darius Rucker Intercollegiate.
It is her second tournament victory in her last three outings - also won the SEC/Pac-12 Challenge to close out the fall schedule. It was her fifth medalist honor in 17 career tournaments at Alabama, extending her own school record. The five career medalist honors are two more than any other player in Crimson Tide history.
Meadow's most recent win at the Darius Rucker Intercollegiate came against a talented field that was filled with SEC competition at the Long Cove Club in Hilton Head Island, S.C. She fired a 5-under-par total of 137 in the 36-hole event that was shortened by rain, carding rounds of 67 and 70.
Meadow is ranked 17th in the latest Golfweek/Sagarin Performance Index. Her 72.76 scoring average for the season ranks third on the team and sixth in the Southeastern Conference. She has a 71.25 stroke average in her last three tournaments.
Meadow and her teammates return to action on March 16-18 at the Gator Women's Invitational at the Mark Bostick Golf Course in Gainesville, Fla.
