CHAPEL HILL, N.C. - The Alabama women's golf team is tied for 13th place after shooting 11-over 299 in the opening round of the Ruth's Chris Tar Heel Invitational on Friday at the par-72, 6,285-yard UNC Finley Golf Course.

The Crimson Tide trail tournament leader Vanderbilt by 16 shots after the Commodores posted a 3-under-par 285 while third-ranked Duke is one shot back at 2-under 286. Auburn is in third place after a 3-over-par round of 291 with Mississippi and Oklahoma tied for fourth at 4-over 292.

Sophomore Emma Talley paced the Alabama attack with a 1-under-par 71 and is tied for 10th entering Saturday's second round. The Tide started their round on the back nine and Talley made the turn at 3-under after making birdie on the 12th, 13th and 17th holes. She carded eight pars on her second nine but made double-bogey seven on the par-5 sixth.

Senior Stephanie Meadow shot 2-over 74 and is tied for 36th. She was 2-over at the turn before making birdie on the sixth. Redshirt freshman Cammie Gray carded a 4-over 76 and tied for 58th. Senior Hannah Collier and sophomore transfer Janie Jackson both tied for 72nd after 6-over-par rounds of 78.

The Tide will be paired with South Carolina and Michigan State during Saturday's second round. Jackson will be the first Alabama player off the 10th tee at 9:03 a.m. (CDT).
