Women's Golf Moves into Second at Liz Murphey Fall Preview

ATHENS, Ga. - The Alabama women's golf team shot the lowest round of the day on Saturday to move into second place after the second round of the Liz Murphey Fall Preview at the par-72, 6,335-yard University of Georgia Golf Course.
The Crimson Tide (+9, 585) shot 1-over-par 289 and are five shots off the lead of Auburn, which carded a 5-over 293 in round two. North Carolina matched the Tide's 289 to move into third place at 10-over 586. Southern California is in fourth at 16-over 592 with Texas A&M and Georgia tied for fifth (19-over 595).
"We still had a number of unforced errors on the front side today that we are going to have to clean up if we are going to be competitive in this tournament," Alabama head coach Mic Potter said. "You have to love our team's ability to stay patient and hang in there and comeback and get the most out of the round."
Junior Stephanie Meadow shot 1-over 73 on Saturday and is tied for third individually at 1-under-par 143, three shots off the lead of Auburn's Marta Sanz. Meadow made three birdies on the round with two birdies and a double bogey.
Freshman Emma Talley fired Alabama's lowest round of the day with a 1-under 71. Talley, from Princeton, Ky., was 1-over after 10 holes but recorded back-to-back birdies on the 14th and 15th holes with six pars to close out her second round. She is tied for 22nd after 36 holes at 3-over 147.
Birmingham's Hannah Collier is tied for sixth for the second straight day after a 1-over 73 on Saturday. She is even-par 144, four shots back. Senior Jennifer Kirby shot even-par 72 to rebound with a solid round and is tied for 40th at 9-over 149. Courtney McKim shot 73 in round two, which gave the Tide five rounds within one shot of par.
Alabama will play with Auburn and North Carolina in the final round and are scheduled to tee off at 8:40 a.m. Sunday.
