Round 1 Results TULSA, Okla. -
The Alabama women's golf team shot 10-over-par 290 in the opening round of the Dale McNamara Fall Preview on Monday at the par-70 6,168-yard Tulsa Country Club.
The Crimson Tide are in 11th place after the opening 18 holes. Oklahoma State leads the event at 2-under 278 with Oklahoma in second at 2-over 282. Arizona and Duke are tied for third at 283 while Arizona State rounds out the top five at 4-over 284.
"Today's round could have gone either way," Alabama head coach Mic Potter said following the round. "We didn't make any of the birdies opportunities we had to speak of - we didn't have many birdies at all. We just couldn't quite get anything going today, but it also wasn't alarming. I think we are on the verge of playing pretty well. We just have to get the ball in the hole a little quicker."
Junior Daniela Lendl led the Crimson Tide attack in the first round with an even-par 70 that included four birdies and four bogeys. She birdied the 388-yard par-4 18th hole to finish her round and is tied for 12th place.
Senior Stephanie Meadow was one shot back in a tie for 21st at 71. She made just two bogeys on her round and posted a birdie on the 400-yard par-5 15th.
Sophomore transfer Janie Jackson was the Tide's third score at 4-over 74 (t46th) followed by Sophomore Emma Talley at 75 (t52nd). Cammie Gray was the drop score with a 78.
Alabama's second round is scheduled to get underway at 8:45 a.m. (CDT) on Tuesday from the Tulsa County Club. The Crimson Tide will begin their round on the back nine in the second round.
